Stock Upgrades: Eastman Chemical Shares Set to Head North


Wall Street ratings agencies set the tone for today's stock market.

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL Hotlanta's own Coca-Cola (KO) sizzled like its city, an advance of 0.93% taking it to a fresh 52-week peak of $79.00. Sprint (S) continued its recent surge by adding on another 4.29% as telecoms, already at a four-year high, were again the best-performing sector. Call Me Maybe? Uh, yea.

Best Buy (BBY), up 5.92% to top the S&P 500 (^GSPC), and GAIN Capital (GCAP), which advanced 6.01%, are each aptly named. Less accurate are Liquidity Services (LQDT), a 24.89% tumbler, Pinnacle Entertainment (PNK), which fell 5.82%, and Joy Global (JOY), down 4.20%.

Ahead of the July 4th holiday, markets will close early, and no quarterly earnings of note are scheduled. In economics, May factory orders are expected to show a slight increase at 10:00 a.m. Eastern.

American Electric Power (AEP): AEP is upgraded to Overweight from Equal Weight at Morgan Stanley.

Amylin Pharmaceuticals (AMLN): The stock gets moved to Equal Weight from Underweight with Morgan Stanley after being bought by Bristol-Myers (BMY).

Douglas Emmett Inc (DEI): Bank of America-Merrill Lynch lifts the REIT to Buy from Neutral.

Eastman Chemical (EMN): Shares get a Buy-from-Neutral boost at Citigroup.

Gardner Denver (GDI): GDI gets upgraded to Buy at Capstone Investments, whose target price is $65.

Nanosphere (NSPH): The stock is surging ahead of the opening bell on a boost to Buy from Hold at Jefferies.

NETGEAR (NTGR): Shares are now Overweight from Equal Weight at Barclays.
