Stock Upgrades: Arch Coal a Hot Stock?


Wall Street ratings agencies set the tone for today's stock market.

Today's earnings activity includes announcements out of Costco (COST), Flowers Foods (FLOW), H.J. Heinz (HNZ), SABMiller (SBMRY.PK), Signet Jewelers (SIG), Tiffany (TIF),Toronto-Dominion Bank (TD), and VeriFone Systems (PAY).

Aeropostale (ARO): ARO is upgraded to Market Perform from Underperform with Wells Fargo, which cites valuation and improving business trends.

Anglo Platinum (AGPPY): The miner is moved to Neutral from Underweight at HSBC Securities.

Arch Coal (ACI): Goldman Sachs gives a Neutral-from-Sell upgrade to ACI.

Assured Guaranty (AGO): AGO gets upgraded to Buy from Neutral at UBS.

Capital One (COF): Shares are added to the Select List at Stifel.

Sierra Bancorp (BSRR): Shares are upgraded to Outperform from Market Perform at Keefe Bruyette.

CareFusion (CFN): Crédit Agricole upgrades to Buy from Outperform.

Central European Distribution (CEDC): The Polish vodka maker is now Neutral from Reduce at Nomura.

Duke Energy (DUK): DUK is upgraded to Buy from Neutral at UBS.

Eaton Vance (EV): EV is now Neutral from Sell at Citigroup.

GDF Suez (GDFZY.PK): Shares in the French utility firm are up in Europe this morning on a Neutral-from-Underperform upgrade at Credit Suisse, which says concerns such as weak margins and corporate governance were already priced in.

HEICO (HEI): HEI is hoisted to Buy from Neutral at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch.

Knight Transportation (KNX): Shares are now Neutral from Underperform at Sterne Agee.

National Oilwell Varco (NOV): NOV is upgraded to Buy from Hold at Société Générale.

SBA Communications (SBAC): Shares are upgraded to Outperform from Neutral at Macquarie.

Watson Pharmaceuticals (WPI): WPI is upgraded to Outperform from Market Perform with Wells.
