Stock Upgrades: Check's in the Mail at Aeropostale


Wall Street ratings agencies set the tone for today's stock market.

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL Upbeat analyst comments yesterday sent Merck KGaA (MKGAY.PK) up 4.06% - Germany's version, that is, not to be confused with the one on this side of the Atlantic. Alas Facebook (FB) did just that late last year -- in retrospect, an early warning the wonder kids were not quite ready for prime time. Shares tumbled 10.99% on lukewarm research comments along with the continuing fallout from an IPO that increasingly looks like a fiasco. There is thus a lot of weeping over on Willow Road, though to be fair it's hard to give thumbs up to a high tech investment when many of its orders were actually taken by hand. Today in economics, April existing home sales are out at 10:00 am Eastern. In earnings action, AutoZone (AZO), Best Buy (BBY), Collective Brands (PSS), Dell Inc (DELL), Express Inc (EXPR), Ralph Lauren (RL), Take-Two Interactive (TTWO), Vodafone (VOD), and Williams-Sonoma (WSM) all report results.

Abercrombie & Fitch (ANF): ANF is now Neutral from Underweight at Atlantic Equities.

Aeropostale (ARO): ARO is upgraded to Outperform from Neutral at Cowen & Company.

Allegheny Technologie (ATI): Shares are boosted to Buy from Fair Value at CRT Capital. higher.

AmerisourceBergen (ABC): Shares are added to the Conviction Buy List at Goldman.

EnerNOC (ENOC): The small cap stock is upgraded to Buy from Hold at Needham, whose target is $7.50.

Gap Inc (GPS): Shares are upgraded to Buy from Neutral at Lazard.

Hennes & Mauritz (HMRZF): The Swedish clothing company, better known as H&M, is trading higher in Europe this morning after an Overweight-from-Neutral hoist at HSBC Securites, which notes both better sales and margin visibility.

Humana (HUM): Wells Fargo hoists HUM to Outperform from Market Perform.

IntercontinentalExchange (ICE): ICE is upgraded to Overweight from Neutral at JP Morgan.

J. Sainsbury plc (JSAIY): The British grocer gets upgraded to Hold from Sell at ING Groep.

Manitowoc (MTW): MTW is moved to Buy from Neutral at Goldman.

Signature Bank (SBNY): Shares are now Buy from Neutral at Guggenheim.
