Stock Upgrades: Boeing Flies High

Wall Street ratings agencies set the tone for today's stock market.

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL JPMorgan (JPM), whose Jamie Dimon says what journalists earn is just "darned outrageous," plunged 9.4% as it tries several lawsuits on for size. Clearly it's catching; even the world's most famous hoodie wearer wore his Sunday best for his wedding. Is the honeymoon already over for Facebook (FB), however? It rose all of $.23 - exactly enough to buy you a slice at Papa John's (PZZA), though LeBron James now enjoys the last laugh - in an IPO that occurred late by 30 minutes or more. Mark Zuckerberg may never pay taxes again but at least the Lockerbie bomber proved that life's second certainty remains so, albeit three years late. No top-tier economic data due today but Campbell Soup (CPB), Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (KKD), Lowe's (LOW), Tidewater (TDW), and Urban Outfitters (URBN) are all due to report results.

Boeing (BA): The Dow member is moved to Buy from Hold with an $85 target at Argus.

JPMorgan Chase (JPM): The Dow member, downgraded elsewhere this morning, is added to Top Picks Live list at Citigroup.

Alpha Natural Resources (ANR): ANR is upgraded to Buy from Hold at Brean Murray.

American Eagle Outfitters (AEO): AEO is upgraded to Buy from Hold at Brean Murray.

LPL Investment (LPLA): LPLA is lifted to Neutral from Negative at Susquehanna.

Mid-Con Energy Partners (MCEP): Shares are upgraded to Outperform from Market Perform at Raymond James.

Merck KGaA (MKGAY): The German drug giant is now Buy from Neutral at UBS.

Myriad Genetics (MYGN): The stock is upgraded to Outperform from Market Perform at Leerink Swann.

Safeway (SWY): Shares are upgraded to Buy from Neutral at Citigroup.

United Bankshares (UBSI): The stock is now Buy from Neutral at Janney Montgomery Scott.

Waters (WAT): WAT is upgraded to Buy from Neutral at Mizuho.
