MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL Elephants, Republican or otherwise, are known for never forgetting, but yesterday equities appeared to develop amnesia, with stocks ending up on what many called a "Romney rally" despite history showing markets typically do better under Democrats.

The Dow (^DJI) enjoyed its strongest session since start of September amid heightened expectations that a more business friendly administration may soon move into the White House. This after President Obama inexplicably failed to press an ex-Massachusetts governor on the contentious 47 question during their debate. Bourses were also boosted by a relatively stellar bond auction in Madrid, although the guffaws that accompanied statements from Spain's finance minister last night suggested the country was adamant on getting an early start to World Smile Day.

Today in economics, analysts expect an expansion in August consumer credit at 3:00 p.m. Eastern. In earnings action, the world's largest winemaker Constellation Brands (STZ) reports results.

Annie's (BNNY): Shares are a new Neutral at Janney Montgomery Scott.

Astoria Financial (AF): Jefferies has a Hold on AF.

CapLease (LSE): LSE is launched with an Outperform at JMP Securities, whose target price is $7.

Craft Brew Alliance (BREW): BREW gets begun with a Buy at Roth Capital, which issues a price objective of $11.

Discount Retailers: Dollar Tree (NASDAQ:DLTR) and Family Dollar (FDO) are each assigned Outperforms at Credit Suisse, which cites strong earnings growth and new management initiatives.

Hain Celestial (HAIN): The stock is initiated with a Buy at Janney Montgomery Scott.

Molex (MOLX): Shares are a new Hold at Jefferies.

Skyworks Solutions (SWKS): Lazard Capital starts Buy rated research with a target of $30.

TriQuint Semiconductor (TQNT): The stock is launched with a Buy at Lazard, whose target is $7.20.

USG Corp (USG): Robert W. Baird resumes Outperform rated research, and a $27 target, on USG.
