PowerShares QQQ Trust and Facebook Among Most Active Stocks in Pre-Market Today on the Nasdaq

Benihana was up this morning.

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The three most active funds and stocks in pre-market trading on the Nasdaq were PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ), Facebook (FB), and Benihana (BNHN) as of 9:05 a.m. Investors traded 2,715,074 shares of PowerShares QQQ, which was up $0.06, or 0.10%. Investors also traded 2,416,082 shares of Facebook, which was down $1.21, or 3.56%, and 546,805 shares of Benihana, which was up $2.85, or 21.43%. Facebook continued to slide in pre-market trading after sliding 11% from Friday's levels yesterday. Some analysts believe Facebook's poor performance is due to the current turbulent economic and financial environment, including the financial crisis in Europe and a larger amount of investors avoiding stocks. Others think the stock was overpriced, and they will wait for the price of the stock to drop before buying shares. (Also see: 10 Takes on the $38 Facebook IPO.) Benihana shares soared after it announced that private equity group Angelo Gordon & Co. will take the company private in a $296 million deal. Angelo Gordon will pay $16.30 per share or a 23% premium to the stock's close yesterday.
