Windstream Corporation and Sirius XM Radio Among Most Active Stocks in Pre-Market Today on the Nasdaq

Arena Pharmaceuticals was up this morning.

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The three most active funds and stocks in pre-market trading on the Nasdaq were Windstream Corporation (WIN), Sirius XM Radio (SIRI), and Arena Pharmaceuticals (ARNA) as of 9:00 a.m. Investors traded 2,004,150 shares of Windstream, which was down $0.06, or 0.60%. Sirius XM is down again despite the large purchases of Sirius XM stock made by Liberty Media (LMCA) last week. Some investors worry about the forward purchase contract for 302 million shares of Sirius XM that Liberty Media bought because Liberty Media can potentially dilute the number of shares to 367 million shares. Investors traded 1,224,564 shares of Sirius XM, which was down $0.04, or 1.65%, and investors traded 570,518 shares of Arena Pharmaceuticals, which was up $0.19, or 2.99%. Arena Pharmaceuticals continued to rise in pre-market trading due to last week's favorable vote from the FDA advisory panel on its obesity drug lorcaserin. This approval gives Arena an advantage over its competitors Vivus (VVUS) and Orexigen Therapeutics (OREX), which are also trying to develop an obesity drug. The FDA previously turned down all three companies' obesity drugs.
