Cisco Systems and Windstream Corporation Among Most Active Stocks in Pre-Market Today on the Nasdaq


PowerShares QQQ Trust was up this morning.

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The three most active funds and stocks in pre-market trading on the Nasdaq were Cisco (CSCO), Windstream Corporation (WIN), and PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ) as of 9:00 a.m. Investors traded 5,112,247 shares of Cisco, which was down $1.45, or 7.72%. Shares of the tech giant fell after it released second-quarter profit estimates below that of analysts expectations. Cisco projects a profit between $0.44 and $0.46 per share compared to analysts projections of $0.49 per share for the second quarter. Cisco's struggles usually precede larger problems for the whole technology sector. Investors traded 1,102,661 shares of Windstream, which was down $0.36, or 3.20%, and 1,009,339 shares of PowerShares QQQ, which was up $0.31, or 0.48%. Windstream is down this morning after falling short of analysts first-quarter expectations. Despite making significant gains from the same quarter last year, Windstream only made $0.11 per share in net income compared to projections of $0.17 per share. The telecommunications company's revenue was $1.55 billion compared to estimates of $1.56 billion.
