Alcatel-Lucent and SPDR S&P 500 ETF Most Active Stocks in Pre-Market Today on the NYSE

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The three most active funds and stocks in pre-market trading on the NYSE were Alcatel-Lucent (ALU), SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), and Barnes & Noble (BKS) as of 9:00 a.m. Investors traded 2.9 million shares of Alcatel-Lucent, which was down $0.02, or 1.30%. Despite being down, analysts expect Alcatel-Lucent to make a turnaround in the coming years as it reorganizes its business and it capitalizes on the growth of 4G technology. Investors traded 2.72 million shares of SPDR S&P 500 ETF, which was up $0.44, or 0.30%, and 2.59 million shares of Barnes & Nobles, which was up $12.73, or 93.10%. Barnes & Nobles stock soared on news that Microsoft (MSFT) will invest $300 million in a new Barnes & Nobles subsidiary, which will develop a Nook e-reader application for Windows 8.
