SPDR S&P 500 ETF and EMC Among Most Active Stocks in NYSE Pre-Market

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The three most active funds and stocks in pre-market trading on the NYSE were SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSEARCA:SPY), EMC (NYSE:EMC), and iShares FTSE China 25 Index Fund (NYSEARCA:FXI) as of 9:10 a.m. EDT.

Investors traded 2.7 million shares of SPDR S&P 500 ETF, which was up $0.49, or 0.35%. (See also: Pre-Market Primer: Companies Sit on Mounds of Cash; Stocks Retake Lost Territory.)

Investors exchanged 2.39 million shares of EMC, which was down $0.21, or 0.85%. EMC reported third-quarter financial results this morning. Its net income rose to $626.3 million, or $0.28 per share compared to $606 million, or $0.27 per share, in the prior-year quarter. Adjusted earnings rose 7% from the prior-year quarter to $881 million, or $0.40 per share, and revenue increased 6% from the prior-year quarter to $5.28 billion. Analysts had expected earnings of $0.42 per share on revenue of $5.46 billion.

Investors also traded 1.14 million shares of iShares FTSE China 25 Index Fund, which was up $0.47, or 1.27%
