PowerShares QQQ Trust and Apple Among Most Active Stocks in Pre-Market Today on the Nasdaq

Netflix shares plunged this morning.

The three most active funds and stocks in pre-market trading on the Nasdaq were PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ), Apple (AAPL), and Netflix (NFLX) as of 9:00 a.m. Investors traded 1,552,012 shares of PowerShares QQQ, which was down $0.15, or 0.23%. Investors traded 808,970 shares of Apple, which was down $12.52, or 2.19%, and 692,117 shares of Netflix, which was down $14.94, or 14.67%. Apple was down amid negative economic news as investors wait for the release of its earnings report this afternoon after the closing bell. Despite beating earnings and revenue estimates, Netflix shares plunged this morning on news of disappointing subscriber numbers and on projections of a disappointing second quarter. The consensus estimate for second-quarter revenue stood at $895 million, but now the projections estimate is for revenue of between $873 million and $895 million. Investors expect subscription numbers to remain weak, especially internationally. All these factors made Netflix the biggest loser in pre-market trading on the Nasdaq.
