MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL If this is indeed our last week on Earth, it is going out with a big bang on Wall Street. The Dow (^DJI) snapped a three-session skid in some style, ending up by triple digits amid renewed fiscal cliff optimism. Newtown and Newton dominated the day, with a pall cast over proceedings by the terrible events in Connecticut while Apple Inc. (AAPL) proved itself impervious to Sir Isaac's fundamental rule of gravity, ending up 1.77% even as it incurred a ratings reduction. A more upbeat analyst assessment saw JetBlue (JBLU) jump 3.25% on a day the airline distinguished itself with an act of kindness in the face of unspeakable horror.

Today's earnings announcements are expected to include Apogee Enterprises (APOG), FactSet Research (FDS), Heico (HEI), Jefferies Group (JEF), Learning Tree (LTRE), Oracle (ORCL), and Sanderson Farms (SAFM).

Atlas Resource Partners (ARP): Shares are initiated with an Outperform at Robert W. Baird, whose target price is $29.

Biogen Idec (BIIB): Canaccord has a Hold on the biotech.

Bravo Brio Restaurant Group (BBRG): The stock is an Overweight at Stephens.

Hospital Stocks: JPMorgan assigns Overweights on Community Health (CYH), HCA Holdings (HCA), Lifepoint Hospitals (LPNT), Tenet Healthcare (THC), and Universal Health (UHS). Health Management (HMA), meanwhile, is a new Neutral.

Joy Global (JOY): JOY is a new Neutral at Citigroup.

LogMeIn (LOGM): Northland Securities starts the stock at Outperform and assigns a $28 target price.

Raymond James Financial (RJF): Shares are initiated with a Buy at Citigroup.

Remy Cointreau (PINK:REMYF): Citi has a new Neutral on the spirits maker.

Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI): The home of shock jock Howard Stern gets begun with a Buy at Goldman, whose price objective is $3.50.

SolarWinds (SWI): SWI is a new Market Perform at Northland.

Tesla Motors (TSLA): Shares are a new Neutral at JPMorgan.

Tim Hortons Inc. (THI): Saying the stock is fairly valued at current levels, Lazard launches Neutral rated research on the Canadian coffee and doughnut company.
