New Stock Coverage: Hush Puppies Owner Wolverine World Wide, Inc. Making Money Talk

Wall Street ratings agencies set the tone for today's stock market.

It felt somehow fitting that topless hoards should inundate Times Square at the end of a week in which Broadway-based Nasdaq (INDEXNASDAQ:.IXIC) was again exposed as an electronic emperor without clothes. Indeed, everyone seemed to be suddenly losing their shirts. Aéropostale (NYSE:ARO) - whose offerings honor one of Wall Street's worst ever years- tumbled 20.22% on Friday alone, and Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (NYSE:ANF) - which apparently only employs the scantily clad - imploded 20% on as investors recoiled from another outbreak of foot-in-mouth disease from its CEO.

While Nasdaq similarly blamed "quote dissemination" issues for its troubles, key Dow (INDEXDJX:.DJI) component Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) jumped 9.34% as Steve Ballmer - who should probably stick to air quotes in light of some of his ill-judged utterances - announced his exit. With Hush Puppies owner Wolverine World Wide, Inc. (NYSE:WWW) scoring a bullish analyst initiation today, perhaps it really is better to speak softly (or not at all) amid the incessant idle chatter. After all, this year's top S&P 500 (INDEXSP:.INX) stock is Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX), which finished at a fresh 52-week peak on Friday. This after inking a deal to show The Artist, an almost silent movie, and The King's Speech, a story about a regal stutterer.

It's a low-key start to the week for corporate earnings reports, but Chinese Internet outfit Qihoo 360 Technology (NYSE:QIHU) is trading sharply higher this morning after its Q2 announcement beat Street estimates.

American Homes 4 Rent (NYSE:AMH): The stock is assigned an Outperform rating and $19 price objective at FBR Capital, which says it is set to become a preeminent player in the single-family rental arena. Bank of America-Merrill Lynch, with a new Neutral, advises greater caution however.

Ardmore Shipping Corp (NYSE:ASC): Evercore (Overweight) and Jefferies (Buy) are equally upbeat on ASC.

Booz Allen Hamilton Holding Corporation (NYSE:BAH): Shares are a new Neutral at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch.

Embraer SA (NYSE:ERJ): The Brazilian business jet maker is resumed with an Outperform at RBC Capital Markets.

PowerSecure International, Inc. (NASDAQ:POWR): Robert W. Baird begins the business services stock at an Outperform with a $21 target amid optimism regarding the company's solid revenue growth and material margin expansion.

3D Systems Corporation (NYSE:DDD): The 3D printing company is picked up with a Buy at Citigroup.

Wolverine World Wide, Inc. (NYSE:WWW): The footwear firm whose brands include Hush Puppies is begun with a Buy at Brean Capital.
