New Stock Coverage: Del Frisco's Steaks Its Claim

By

Wall Street ratings agencies set the tone for today's stock market.

Steakhouse operator Del Frisco's Restaurant Group Inc. (NASDAQ:DFRG) has been red meat for investors of late, having recently reported an impressive 27% increase in annual profit. Shares subsequently surged sharply at the Texas-based eatery where power diner William Ackman famously twisted the knife into Herbalife (NYSE:HLF) last spring.

On the cusp of Mother's Day, mum was the word on Wall Street. Dow Industrials (INDEXDJX:.DJI) advanced by triple digits after Janet Yellen, in stark contrast to her "six months" specificity of several weeks ago, this time opted against suggesting any "mechanical formula or timetable" for the end of the Fed's monetary morphine. As Sigmund said: If it's not one thing, it's your mother. Reported interest from "Ma Bell" had DirecTV (NASDAQ:DTV) asking "Who's your daddy?" as that stock jumped 7.96% to an historic high. Alas, maternal retailer Zulily (NASDAQ:ZU) was no yummy mummy after it tumbled 29.66% to a post-IPO low. Meanwhile, proud parent Marissa Mayer failed to prove she can survive without Ma as Yahoo (NASDAQ:YHOO) slid 6.63%. Can the CEO, having hitherto coasted on the back of Alibaba, now go it alone? Well, you know what they say about necessity. Elsewhere, AOL Inc. (NYSE:AOLthrew the distressed baby out with the bathwater by imploding 20.62%. Soccer moms (and our secretary of state) enjoyed an earnings-and-analyst 21.03% advance in Electronic Arts (NASDAQ:EA) of FIFA futbol fame. And Wendy's (NASDAQ:WEN), which is all about moms, is gaining impressively as we speak after this morning's earnings beat.

Today's other quarterly earnings announcements include Monster Beverage (NASDAQ:MNST), Priceline (NASDAQ:PCLN), Regeneron (NASDAQ:REGN), and RocketFuel (NASDAQ:FUEL).

Now let's turn to this morning's new stock coverage, a list that includes an insurance outfit in addition to Del Frisco's Restaurant Group.

Del Frisco's Restaurant Group Inc.: Sterne Agee starts the stock with a bullish Buy rating. Its price objective is $34.

Dominion Diamond (NYSE:DDC): Shares are assigned an Equal Weight by Barclays, whose target price is $14.

Magic Software (NASDAQ:MGIC): William Blair resumes Outperform-rated research.

PDC Energy (NASDAQ:PDCE): PDCE gets picked up with a Buy at Brean Capital.

Prudential Financial (NYSE:PRU): Keefe Bruyette covers the insurance giant at Outperform.
