The seriously spooky Edgar Allan Poe once wrote a haunting poem called The Bells but, by the time Halloween's closing chimes rang out on Wall Street, investors didn't have much to fear. Granted, Dow Industrials (INDEXDJX:.DJI) did end October with a drop, but both it and the S&P 500 Index (INDEXSP:.INX) advanced impressively in October. Six years to the day after Meredith Whitney gave markets a serious fright with her downgrade of Citigroup (NYSE:C), her professional wrestler hubbie saw World Wrestling Entertainment (NYSE:WWE) surge 9.38% to a fresh 52-week peak. Skullcandy (NASDAQ:SKUL) similarly gained 1.29%,and Death on the Blue Nile (NASDAQ:NILE) also paid on the day of the dead. It advanced 1.16%, even as a hedge fund heavyweight who calls Herbalife (NYSE:HLF) a pyramid scheme sent that stock down 3.57% after hiding his Halloween mask under a Robin Hood. Watch this space; Tut's mummy may yet exact more revenge on the nutritional supplements stock.

Today in economics, October's Institute for Supply Management manufacturing index is expected to slip from September's pace at 10:00 a.m. Eastern. Another frenzied week for quarterly earnings announcements concludes with results expected out of Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK), Chevron (NYSE:CVX), Madison Square Garden (NASDAQ:MSG), Portland General Electric (NYSE:POR), Washington Post (NYSE:WPO), and Royal Bank of Scotland Group (NYSE:RBS).

IsoRay (NYSEMKT:ISR): Maxim assigns a Buy on the speculative micro-cap stock.

TherapeuticsMD ((NYSEMKT:TXMD): The drug maker is begun with a Buy at Stifel.

Vestas Wind Systems (OTCMKTS:VWDRY): The answer is indeed Blowin' in the Wind, but it'll cost you. Société Générale starts the Danish turbine titan, whose shares are up about 126% in the past 6 months alone, at a Buy.
