New Stock Coverage: Pacira Pharmaceuticals Is Just What the Doctor Ordered

Wall Street ratings agencies set the tone for today's stock market.

Pacira Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:PCRX) could be poised for a big day after being picked up with a bullish Buy rating at the Merrill Lynch unit of Bank of America (NYSE:BAC). Analysts wrote in a note that the upbeat assessment is "driven by its long-acting local analgesic Exparel." The broker adds that this product "offers compelling economic benefits to hospitals by reducing complications and length of stay." Exparel, Pacira's principal post-surgical product, was introduced two years ago this month, and the firm is due to announce earnings on May 1.
Our Canadian cousins clearly don't hold New York's most populous borough in high esteem, but a Brooklynite just ensured that the Dow (INDEXDJX:.DJI) enjoyed its best week of the year. Blue chips advanced 2.38% in four holiday-truncated sessions after more market-friendly comments from Fed head Janet Yellen. Among stocks in the news, Canada's own Lululemon (NASDAQ:LULU), whose sheer pants had shareholders saying "I see London, I see France," now has no need to try a lawsuit on for size. In London itself, the FTSE 100 Index (INDEXFTSE:UKX) enjoyed another solid showing after its Britain was anointed planet Earth's fastest-growing economy. (But buyer beware, for there are quite literally signs of a bubble in Merrie Olde England.) RadioShack (NYSE:RSH), which has the '80s on the phone, skidded 31% even as that era's Cold War hotline continues to heat up.
This morning in economics, March leading indicators are expected to tick up at 10:00 a.m. EDT. Peak earnings week is here, with Halliburton (NYSE:HAL), Hasbro (NYSE:HAS), and Netflix (NASDAQ:NFLX) all due to release results today.
Now let's turn to this morning's new stock coverage, a list that includes an application software and energy stock in addition to Pacira Pharmaceuticals.

Acacia Research (NASDAQ:ACTG): The business services stock, which surged 7.36% on Thursday, is begun with a Buy at Cantor Fitzgerald.
Ashford Hospitality Prime (NYSE:AHP): Deutsche Bank has a Hold opinion, and $18 price objective, on AHP.
Atmos Energy (NYSE:ATO): Shares are a new Neutral at JPMorgan.
Pacira Pharmaceuticals: Bank of America Merrill Lynch launches with a Buy-rated research on today's headline analyst initiation. Its target price is $86.
2U, Inc. (NASDAQ:TWOU): Compass Point covers the provider of cloud-based application software at a Buy.
