Allscripts Healthcare Solutions and PowerShares QQQ Trust Among Most Active Stocks in Pre-Market Today on the Nasdaq

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The three most active funds and stocks in pre-market trading on the Nasdaq were Allscripts Healthcare Solutions (MDRX), PowerShares QQQ Trust (QQQ), and Amazon (AMZN) as of 9:00 a.m. Investors traded 15,929,105 shares of Allscripts, which was down $6.67, or 41.64%. Shares of Allscripts plunged on a slew of bad news for the company. Its first-quarter numbers fell below estimates, and it lowered its guidance for the rest of 2012. The company earned $0.12 per share on revenue of $365 million; analysts expected earnings per share of $0.24 on revenue of $387.7 million. Furthermore, the company's leadership is in disarray as the CFO left the company, and the board forced the chairman to resign. Three board members resigned over the dispute to remove the chairman. Investors traded 1,696,011 shares of PowerShares QQQ, which was up $0.25, or 0.37%, and 1,225,463 shares of Amazon, which was up $33.78, or 17.24%. Amazon surged after exceeding analysts' first quarter expectations. Analysts had anticipated earnings of $0.07, but Amazon reported earnings of $0.28. The online bookseller's net sales increased by 34% from $10 billion in the first quarter of 2011 to $13.2 billion for the first quarter of this year, driven by sales of the Kindle Fire. The consensus estimate was for revenue of $12.9 billion.
