MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The three most active funds and stocks in pre-market trading on the NYSE were Citigroup (NYSE:C), Sprint (NYSE:S), and Bank of America (NYSE:BAC) as of 8:45 a.m. EDT.
Investors traded 8.09 million shares of Citigroup, which was down $0.86, or 2.35%. Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit announced this morning that he would step down a day after Citi reported its third quarter earnings. The move surprised investors.
Investors exchanged 7.56 million shares of Sprint, which was up $0.02, or 0.35%. According to Bloomberg, people with direct knowledge of the situation said that Sprint has no immediate plants to take over Clearwire Corporation (NASDAQ:CLWR).
Investors also traded 3.33 million shares of Bank of America, which was up $0.06, or 0.64%. According to the Wall Street Journal, investment banker Margaret Ren is rejoining Bank of America Merrill Lynch as China executive and chairman.
