Alcatel-Lucent and SPDR S&P 500 ETF Among Most Active Stocks in Pre-Market Today on the NYSE

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL The three most active funds and stocks in pre-market trading on the NYSE were Alcatel-Lucent (ALU), SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY), and AstraZeneca (AZN), as of 9:15 a.m. Investors traded 2.68 million shares of Alcatel-Lucent, which was down $0.26, or 13.33%. Despite reporting a net profit of $526 million, up from a $13.23 million loss last year, shares of Alcatel-Lucent plunged as its revenue fell 12.3% from $4.8 billion to $4.2 billion. Its operating loss also widened from $84.7 million to $382 million. Investors traded 2.14 million shares of SPDR S&P 500 ETF, which was down $0.53, or 0.38%, and 1.16 million shares of AstraZeneca, which was down $2.55, or 5.55%. Today AstraZeneca's CEO David Brennan said he would step down in June, causing shares to slide. He announced his resignation on the news that AstraZeneca's first quarter net profits dropped 44% to $1.6 billion; analysts expected $2 billion. Revenue declined by 11% to $7.35 billion compared to consensus estimates of $7.98 billion.
