How have sectors responded to quantitative easing?

Stocks took a breather this week after spending the first half of the month sprinting to new multi-year highs. While technology watchers had Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to buzz about (iPhone 5, $700, iOS 6), others concerned themselves with a gloomy outlook from FedEx Corporation (NYSE:FDX) and continued global unrest. The result was a modestly lower weekly finish for the major market averages.

But let's not forget about those multi-year highs. Todd Salamone continues to see the proverbial glass as half full -- especially with all those short positions still out there -- even as he thinks the environment could be ripe for a move higher in the CBOE Market Volatility Index (^VIX).

And now that QE3 has moved from foregone conclusion to reality, resident QA whiz Rocky White looks at the sectors that benefitted from quantitative easing announcements and actions -- and a few that might have been better off without.

Finally, we wrap up with a preview of the notable earnings and economic events of the week ahead, along with two bullish sectors of note.
