Yesterday afternoon Minyanville writer Justin Rohrlich collected an Excellence in Financial Journalism award for his piece, Insider Trading Laws Do Not Apply to Members of Congress. No, Seriously. Rohrlich was recognized by the New York State Society of CPAs (NYSSCPA), which invited winning writers to a luncheon ceremony at the Yale Club in Manhattan.

As NYSSCPA past president and event emcee David J. Moynihan commented, both financial journalists and CPAs are in the business of truth-telling. CPAs tell the story in numbers, and journalists tell the story behind the numbers, he said. We couldn't agree more. And in the case of this story, Rohrlich dug into the numbers nine months before TV's 60 Minutes made it a national issue.

Congratulations, Justin!
