Everybody’s favorite ice-cream hippies made their name with bizarre flavors inspired by -- what else -- counter-culture nostalgia. Maybe their Cool Britannia flavor was a clue that foreign ownership could be in the cards. The sale finally happened in 2000, when the ice-cream maker was sold to Anglo-Dutch-owned Unilever.
