Does This Indicator From Apple Mean It Will Likely Beat Expectations?

Also in Apple news, the new iMac lineup and Retina Display MacBook Pro could be launched this fall.

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL According to RBC Capital's Amit Daryanani, Apple's (AAPL) June quarter's $13.6 billion (or 24% year-over-year) increase in manufacturing and component purchase commitments and $4.4 billion (or 63%) increase in inventory prepayments indicate that Apple will likely beat Wall Street's expectations by about 10% over the next few quarters.

Apple has used its large amount of cash as a loan facility -- what Horace Dediu of Asymco has called the Bank of Apple -- to lock in key manufacturing supplies over the past several years. Daryanani claims that so-called off-balance sheet expenditures have a high correlation with Apple's future revenues.

New iMac and MacBook Pro

Individuals from Apple's upstream supply chain stated that Apple started mass shipping the new iMac all-in-one PCs and Retina Display 13.3-inch MacBook Pros this month. FoxNews.com has also reported that multiple sources have stated that the launch of a new lineup of iMacs is imminent and will likely appear in stores sometime this fall.

The upstream supply chain sources said that the official launch of the Retina Display 13.3-inch MacBook Pro should occur in either September or October to meet the back-to-school and holiday demand.

Apple originally planned to produce three models of the new iMac, which contain upgraded panels and CPUs. The lower and mid-level models saw shipping volumes increase in September, but Apple has postponed the production of the high-end model due to the poor yields of the panel. The iMacs are expected to feature Intel's (INTC) Ivy Bridge processors, USB 3.0 ports, and expanded solid-state drive capacities.

LTE Connection

Apple will likely announce the launch of the iPhone 5 this Wednesday, September 12, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. A report from the Wall Street Journal claims sources familiar with the subject have said that the new iPhone will utilize Long Term Evolution, or LTE, networks. Carriers will now be able to sell their fastest data services to iPhone users.
