You Can Finally Opt Out of Receiving Yellow Pages

Say goodbye to the most obsolete and wasteful publication since Cosmo.

The Yellow Pages Association -- maker of that 10 lb. doorstop you hadn't needed since the mid-'90s -- is finally allowing households to opt out of the tree-killing mountain of paper. Between the web, smartphone location services, and the fact that no one really wants their personal number available to everyone, the fact it took this long for the publisher to check with us before delivering recycling fodder on a gas-guzzling truck is inexcusable.

At any rate, score one for the environment.

The group set up a website,, for users to decline the phone number tome. Enter in your zip code and fill out the form. Simple, quick. Seems like this Internet is good for a lot of things.

But I wonder if the Association, right before it set up the website, briefly considered mail-in registrations.
