While Americans continue to mourn the loss of thousands of birds plucked from the skies, across the globe the Vietnamese are mourning the loss of cows.

Thanh Nien reports that Vietnam’s Department of Husbandry at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has confirmed that more 10,000 cows and buffalo have died due to extreme cold. The Cao Bang province in the north was hit the worse, suffering 2,260 cattle deaths. In Lang Son, more than 2,000 are dead. In Lao Cai, more than 1,400.

Vietnam’s harsh weather conditions are also taking a toll on humans, with 4 people already reported dead. Doctor Pham Van Hung at the Da Nang City Hospital reports that between 150-200 patients are arriving each day with cold related illness.

Strangely, as NaturalNews.com points out, cattle have survived much colder conditions in other parts of the world, raising troubling questions for why exactly the Vietnamese cows are dying off.

This, of course, comes amid a torrent of worldwide mass animal deaths. More birds were found dead in South Dakota, recently, as well as in Italy.

The cattle deaths in Vietnam could be catastrophic for the nation’s mostly rural populations. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, 74 percent of Vietnam’s population lives in rural areas, with 65 percent depending agriculture for their income.

And so, quite simply, the answer is yes. Yes, the apocalypse is here.
