U.K. Speaks Out in Defense of BP

Print comment Post Comments
" BP PLC got its first public sign of support from the British government Thursday as the U.K.'s Treasury chief cited the "economic value" of BP in the U.K. and the U.S. In addition, the U.K.'s new prime minister said he expected to discuss the company in a weekend call with U.S. President Barack Obama. The high-level British government comments came as BP continued to face searing political pressure from Washington over its handling of the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The escalating row between the British oil giant and the Obama administration on Thursday drew in U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron, who has been on a trip to Afghanistan and has a previously scheduled call with President Barack Obama this weekend."
