The Top 10 Best Performing Global Equity Market Indices

Print comment Post Comments
Below are the top 10 best-performing global equity market indices year-to-date, according to Bloomberg data. It's interesting to see what makes up the top 10, especially for those of us who tend to have blinders on when it comes to trading and investing outside the U.S., Asia and Europe.

As recently as 10 years ago it would have been nearly impossible for someone other than a professional trader and investor to gain access to ex-U.S. markets other than Japan and western Europe. For most of these, it's still difficult. The available options for the number one-returning global equity index, Mongolia, are virtually non-existent. Sri Lanka has numerous investment options via Cayman Island-incorporated funds. The Aberdeen Indonesia Fund (IF) (+50.24% YTD) and Van Eck Global Market Vectors Indonesia Fund (IDX) (+41.46% YTD) are two funds targeting Indonesia available via NYSE-listed funds.

In the next 10 years, look for access to these markets to continue to open up to outside investors.
