The Ten Filthiest Hotels in America

Print comment Post Comments
Laura Bly, USA Today's intrepid travel reporter, brings us a rundown of America's top ten dirtiest hotels, as ranked by TripAdvisor.

Claiming this year's top prize is the Grand Resort Hotel & Convention Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee--home of Dolly Parton's Dollywood.

Bly quotes a (presumably former) patron of the Grand, who said there was "chewing tobacco spit oozing down the hall," "carpeting so greasy and dirty you wouldn't want to sit your luggage down," and that "the best thing thing that could happen is that a meteor fall from the sky and reduce it to rubble."

Also on the list:

2. Jack London Inn, Oakland, Calif.

3. Desert Inn Resort, Daytona Beach, Fla.

4. Hotel Carter, New York, N.Y.

5. Polynesian Beach & Golf Resort, Myrtle Beach, S.C.

... and closer to home, checking in at number 10...

10. Econo Lodge Newark International Airport, Elizabeth, N.J.

The Newark Econo Lodge?!?!?!?!?! Looks like I'd better change my Valentine's Day reservations...
