Should You Take Advice From Someone Who Writes for a Living?

Print comment Post Comments
"Should you really take financial advice from someone foolish enough to write for a living?" asks Brett Arends before spraying some venom at his targets, "the bloggers." Among the jabs: "As I write these words, it's 11 am Eastern and Andrew Sullivan, the blogger at the Atlantic, already has posted 12 items this morning. Twelve. Is this journalism or a nervous tic?" And this, "I am equally baffled by the readers. Who says "Hmmm, it's 11 o'clock. I wonder what Felix Salmon has written about Morgan Stanley since breakfast?""

Well, it's to be expected, I suppose. After all, it's "the bloggers" who pulled back the curtain on what it means to "write for a living" in the first place.
