Researchers at Edinburgh's Napier University have filed for a patent on a new biofuel, which uses the two main by-products from the whisky-making process.
"The new biofuel is made from biological material which has been already generated," said Martin Tangney, who is leading the research. "[Adding] five or 10 per cent [to regular petroleum] means less oil which would make a big, big difference," and "potentially offers new revenue on the back of one Scotland's biggest industries."
Richard Dixon, Scotland director of the WWF, said, "Whisky-powered cars could help Scotland avoid having to use those forest-trashing biofuels."Hang on, why is a guy in the pro wrestling business getting involved in environmental issues?Must have something to do with Linda McMahon's Senate campaign, I guess.
