Tea crop loss seen at 30 million kg this year

Addressing the annual general meeting of the Assam branch of the Tea Association of India (TAI) at Tezpur recently, Mr D. P. Maheswari, President of TAI, attributed the drop to crop loss of about 15 mkg so far in the Assam Valley alone, largely due to the incessant rain followed by pest attacks.

New devices, demand from smaller cities to boost PC market

The PC market is all set to usher in 2011 on a strong note, benefiting from positive consumer and business sentiments, rising demand in smaller cities and ‘PC desirability' among the youth.

Lacklustre year for IPOs

Out of the 61 companies that tapped the primary markets this year, raising over Rs 38,000 crore, six in ten continue to languish below their offer prices. What's more, two-thirds of them have even lagged the performance delivered by the broader markets.
