Rikers Ain't No Thang to Lil Wayne

Print comment Post Comments
Lil Wayne's thug life remains relatively untested behind bars in Rikers Island, according to The Week. The 27-year-old hip hop star is serving a 12-month sentence -- eight for good behavior -- for illegal possession of a handgun. But Shawshank Redemption and OZ reruns paint a grim portrait of prison that Mr. Dwayne Carter seemingly avoids.

The Week reported that Carter enjoys an 11 a.m. wake up time and spends the majority of his day reading fan mail, working on his push-ups, and listening to ESPN radio. He even found time to collaborate on a song via cell phone for Canadian rap artist Drake.

Although Carter allegedly ran into trouble with the guards for possession of contraband -- i.e. headphones and a charger for an MP3 player -- thankfully the rapper can find solace in the nearly 8 million Facebook members who approved of his website containing his letters sent from prison.

So even if Carter does serve the full year, it doesn't sound like he's really earned another teardrop tattoo.
