"Paul Frank Industries -- which has minted millions by slapping the simple cartoon drawing of a monkey's head onto hundreds of products -- has put itself on the block," according to the NY Post. "The Costa Mesa, Calif., company has hired Guggenheim Partners to assist in the sale process, in which it's asking for as much as $50 million, sources said. Paul Frank is backed by California fashion mogul Mossimo Giannulli, who in 2006 sold his namesake fashion brand -- a low-price fixture at Target stores -- to Iconix, the New York-based owner of consumer brands like Joe Boxer, Roca Wear, and most recently Peanuts."
