Nevada Candidate Proposes 'Pay to Speed' Traffic Bill

HEY KOWALSKI, YOU OUT THERE?

Ah, Nevada. Where else can you legally place bets on a prostitutes' assault rifle target practice? Sure, simple marijuana possession could get you deported, but personal income taxes? Forget 'em!

Keeping in line with the Silver State's freewheeling libertarian attitude, nonpartisan candidate Eugene "Gino" DiSimone has an unorthodox plan for boosting revenue and fixing the budget crisis. In what he's calling the "free limit plan," motorists can pay a $25 fee for the privilege to drive up to 90 miles per hour on designated highways.

But anyone who expects it'd be a cakewalk to be approved for the proposed measure, think again. Not only does your vehicle have to be fitted with a transponder, it also has to pass a safety inspection AND be entered in a database. And uh, well, I guess that's it. An account is created and, with a $25 credit card charge, your License to Speed is live for 24 hours.

Blind radio DJ guides are available for an extra fee.
