The US Marshals Service unveiled a treasure chest of items yesterday from the Madoff estate that will be auctioned off next week, reports the New York Times. Items include toaster ovens, yoga mats, slippers, and jewelry.
If you want to catch a glimpse of these exciting items, a public viewing is being held tomorrow in Brooklyn. The auction will be held the following Saturday at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers in Manhattan. It will also be broadcast online.
This isn’t the first auction of Madoff gear. Last November, a Madoff auction raised $1 million to help pay back victims of the largest Ponzi scheme in global history. Again, next Saturday's auction will help to pay back victims.
Just to remind everyone, the total amount of money Madoff stole was about $18 billion.
Which could totally be repaid if he happened to also own 8 B-2 bombers, going for about $2.2 billion a piece.
If you want to peruse the actual collection, it’s all online here.
Personally, I’m going to be bidding on Madoff’s Crystal Ball.
Because I just like the idea of Bernie Madoff sitting in a brown leather chair maniacally staring into a crystal ball and seeing prison bars.
