Mergers and acquisitions, coming off a woeful 12 months, may finally be bottoming, the Wall Street Journal points out this morning. "August was shaping up to be the worst month for deal making since 1995, according to data provider Dealogic," the newspaper says. The market was bolstered this week when Disney announced the $4 billion purchase of Marvel Entertainment and Baker Hughes purchased oil-field-services company BJ Services for $5.5 billion. That was the busiest single day in U.S. deal making in nearly three months, the Journal says.
