Healthcare Costs are Killing Zsa Zsa Gabor

After Zsa Zsa Gabor was hospitalized with a broken hip last summer, she's had gangrene, a lung infection, and her right leg amputated.

According to the Journal of the American Podiatric Medical Association, a foot or leg amputation "costs between $30,000 and $60,000 in initial hospital costs, plus between $43,000 and $60,000 in costs for follow-up care over the next three years." While some studies show that show medical bills are a leading cause of personal bankruptcies, others dispute the statistics. Whatever the actual numbers, we all know that getting sick can kill you financially--and 94 year-old Zsa Zsa Gabor is no exception.

After celebrating her birthday last week, Frederic Prinz von Anhalt--Zsa Zsa's ninth husband--apparently realized just how much his wife's care was costing, by the looks of the homepage over at

"I need the money, and I need the cash," von Alhalt told the New York Post, adding that "the storage cost him $1,200 a month and he's already spent $200,000 on Gabor's medical care."

Von Alhalt hopes to raise $100,000 from Zsa Zsa's old furs. Just in case that doesn't cover his wife's expenses, von Alhalt is already prepared with a Plan B:
