"A Goldman Sachs e-mail from February 2007 acknowledged that a large trade in complex mortgage-related securities would be “good for us’’ but bad for several customers, including Harvard University," the Boston Globe reports. "The e-mail indicates Goldman’s chief executive, Lloyd Blankfein, was sent a copy. Harvard spokesman John Longbrake confirmed the university made the investment, which was first reported by the Harvard Crimson."

Lloyd Blankfein attended Harvard on a scholarship, and he also earned a JD from the university's law school.
