Wired magazine interviewed Yards Brewing Company founder Tom Kehoe, who has just made available his "Ales of the Revolution" series for sots who want to drink the way the Founding Fathers did.

There's General Washington's Tavern Porter, the recipe for which Kehoe unearthed at the New York Public Library.

There's also Poor Richard's Tavern Spruce Ale, which is based on a recipe by Ben Franklin, which Kehoe found at a museum.

Rounding out the collection is Thomas Jefferson's Tavern Ale, which was almost 13% alcohol in its original form.
