This must be a particularly difficult pledge season for NPR, what with the whole Juan Williams fiasco prompting all sorts of pundits to call for a moratorium on public financing of the organization and its partner-in-crime PBS.

In a statement, NPR pleas: "Federal funding has been a central component of public radio stations' ability to serve audiences across the country…It's imperative for funding to continue to ensure that this essential tool of democracy survives and thrives well into the future."

Well, this time NPR is injecting its typically dull pledge drive with a bit of the rather hilarious.

Alec Baldwin stopped by NPR to record a series of promos for the pledge drive that are truthfully, honestly, pretty hysterical.

You can listen to them here.
