OPTICAL ILLUSIONS

Hey, this is unsurprising: turns out those "growing sales" at GM and Chrysler aren't really growing, not unless you factor in the fleet sales the two companies regained after losing that business during their 2009 bankruptcy proceedings.

According to Automotive News, retail sales were down almost 1 percent at GM and off 19 percent at Chrysler through July.

"Counting fleet of all types and retail sales, GM is up 13 percent this year, and Chrysler is up 11 percent," the article says. That's still below the industry's 15 percent gain.
