How to Charge Your iPhone or Android Like James Bond

Print comment Post Comments

Have you been secretly craving a device that will fulfill your adolescent dreams of living the life of James Bond? Are the Brookstone and Sharper Image catalogs just not doing it for you anymore?

Well, take a look at the Booster Brolly.

Phandroid reports that thanks to this invention by Dr. Kenneth Tong of University College of London, folks users will be able to impress their friends by shielding themselves from the sun or rain while charging their smartphone at the same time. Users of iPhones (AAPL), Androids (GOOG), BlackBerries (RIMM), Windows Phones (MSFT), or any device that can be charged by USB are covered. (So to speak.)

How, you ask? Tong has teamed up with Vodafone (VOD) to produce the umbrella that is tricked out with 12 hand-stitched silicon solar panels on the fabric that charge a battery located on the handle. Simply plug in your smartphone to the handle’s USB port and you’ve got a full charge in three hours.

But wait! There’s more!

The umbrella will also amplify the signal of all wireless connections within three meters. Blows your mind right?

The Vodafone Booster Brolly will make its debut June 22 at the Isle of Wight Festival. Hopefully the US will not have to wait too long for it make its way across the pond.
