Burger King to Serve a Bacon Sundae

Print comment Post Comments

Following on the cheese-dusted heels of Taco Bell’s (YUM) Doritos Locos Taco comes this summer’s newest fast food hedonistic treat: an ice cream sundae topped with bacon.

Burger King just showed off their new summer menu items, with the standout entry being the Bacon Sundae. Vanilla soft serve topped with hot fudge, caramel, and bacon.

Its nutritional information isn’t for the faint of heart. The sundae is saddled with 510 calories, 61 grams of sugar, and 18 grams of fat.

While this addition hasn’t inspired everyone to jump on the pork-and-ice-cream truck, an unexpected menu item could flood the burger chain with customers like a Doritos shell taco did for a certain tex-mex restaurant.

This isn’t even the first time a bacon dessert has been tried at a burger joint. Jack in the Box (JACK) came out with a bacon milkshake in February, flavored with syrup instead of meat.

All the summer items are available for a limited time, applying the same plan McDonalds (MCD) uses with their infamous McRib.

Other items BK is offering this summer include a pulled pork sandwich and sweet potato fires. But really, can anyone hold a candle to a desert topped with fried pork fat?
