Apple Loses Top Exec Behind Tremendous Product

Since the iPhone 4S launch, everybody is talking about -- and to -- Apple's newly revamped Siri.

More than just a vocal assistant, Siri provides information and services with basic verbal requests. And unlike Android's Google Commands, Siri is not tied to stringent vocal cues -- its functions are invoked with "fuzzy language." In other words, more often than not, it knows what you're talking about without having to read from a script.

But amid all the growing praise for arguably iPhone 4S' best feature, its co-founder just jumped the Apple ship.

Dag Kittlaus, co-founder and CEO of the company behind Siri, has parted ways with Cupertino. According to AllThingsD, Kittlaus left Apple amicably, and is taking time off while focusing on new entrepreneurial ideas and spending time with family in Chicago.

While Kittlaus is departing, sources say his Siri cohorts and compatriots are remaining with Apple.
