Occupy Wall Street's Big Moment, in Tweets

Print comment Post Comments
You've probably heard by now that the anti-Wall Street protests came to a boil Saturday afternoon, with marchers unexpectedly taking to the Brooklyn Bridge and blocking traffic out of Manhattan's financial district. The scale of the civil disobedience, with 700 kettled into police vans at the bridge, and the resulting dramatic images launched Occupy Wall Street from fodder for widespread snark to front pages -- and, most likely, the front of your Facebook -- in a day. And this week, the major papers are leading with reports that the events on the Brooklyn Bridge are sparking demonstrations in more than a dozen other American cities.

If you weren't around to observe the spectacle on Saturday, you might be wishing you'd been there for the unfolding of what could end up a moment for the history books. Of course, the next best thing to an in-person experience is reading about one on Twitter. So, relying on the tweets of some of the journalists on duty, we used Storify to reconstruct the events.
