Apple Sets Date for iPhone 5, Says Report

October. A fine month, a comfortable month, arguably the best month of the year. The crisp, cool air is coupled with the crunch of fallen leaves. The maddening heat of summer has faded, and the suffocating mayhem of the holiday season hasn't yet gripped our throats. Fireplaces start igniting, and sweaters are donned.

Yeah. This is the perfect time for Apple to introduce a new toy.

According to All Things D, Cupertino will kick off the first week of October with the first official glimpse at the iPhone 5. Sources close to the site say the company will hold a public event to unveil the future flagship device on Tuesday, October 4.

While numerous parties have already pegged October as the launch month for the iPhone 5, TechRepublic's Jason Hiner found a kink in the October 4 rumor. Hiner tweeted earlier today that San Francisco's Moscone Center -- where Apple events are typically held -- has already been booked by Oracle for that date.

Well, if CEO Tim Cook doesn't mind sharing the stage...
