Apple's New iPhone Coming Later Than Expected

Well, you may not have a new gadget to play with while you're waiting to pick up the kids from school. But at least the time in between visits from trick-or-treaters ought to be a little more entertaining.

According to AllThingsD, rumors that Apple will be releasing its next iPhone in September are false. Flying in the face of recent reports, AT&T has not blacked out employee vacations during the last two weeks of September in preparation for the new model.

A source told AllThingsD, "I don't know why AT&T's calling for all hands on deck those weeks, but it's not for an iPhone launch." When asked when the new iPhone is actually coming, the insider replied, "October."

Even worse, the source not only couldn't provide an exact date, other folks familiar with the matter claim it'll be later in the month rather than earlier.

Sadly, that means teens relying on the new iPhone to look cool in this school year will have to resort to some alternative.
