Infographic: The Winners and Losers of Social Networking

Despite hitting what can be called a "social networking saturation point," major players in the tech world continue to launch their own Facebooks and Twitters. Apple has its Ping, Google has its Buzz and +1, and AOL has -- well, had -- its Bebo. Eventually, we'll see a service surpass Facebook in membership and revenue, but it doesn't appear that anything today will succeed in doing so.

But looking at the combatants in the social networking war, some trends begin to emerge. There are those which court wealthier users. There are those which appeal to women more than men. And there are those which probably won't be around to see 2012.

Ignite Social Media compiled the data from 54 social networks from around the world to see which comes out on top in a variety of categories.
