The God's of Retail
Thanks for posting the article on "The God's of Retail." I've gained two insights in my career that prove that God needs to be in one's business. First, during Career "A", I once worked for a guy who worked 7 days a week. He had lots of work, but never made any extra money by working 7 days a week. And second, I decided to build Career "B" by writing and directing Christian Teen Movies. It's so tempting to want to work on it on Sundays, but I decided to take Sundays off from it. The results: It appears that God has given me better ideas and done more with the remaining 6 days than I could ever do with all 7. Now, I'm trusting God to provide the $4.7 million needed to produce my film.

Gods of retail
It seemed like it was hard to get to the meat of this article. I would personally choose a retailer with a conscious and a value system that was based on biblical principles over one that wasn't.

oy!
A tablet of Mitzvot and you include not one Jewish business, you have blinders on? It seems somewhat sleazy for a place called Minyanville to only talk about Christians. Surely there are Jewish related business of the Pritzkers, Wexners, Stones, Bronfmanns or Schottensteins you could have said something about, not to mention Timberland and then some Muslims' businesses?

The Gods of Retail
I, also by coincidence initialed CJ,
:-), agree w/ CJ. When we had Schottensteins until recently, it was ALWAYS closed on Shabbat. During Christmas season it opened at 6:00 PM on Saturdays for its Christian seasonal shoppers. I actually really respected them for this practice.

Oy Vey!
Too many links, and someone's comment got lost on a comment for the linked piece.

Creative layout, just get the text on one page; I'd much rather scroll than play link hopscotch.

I respect stores, Jewish, Christian, or otherwise that close for observed sabbaths or holidays.

If you dont' like it, you can choose to not shop there, eh?
