Tim Thielen is the Managing Partner for Sea Change Capital, LLC and serves as the Portfolio Manager for the Sea Change Portfolio, LP – a capital appreciation hedge fund with its roots based in the tenets of technical analysis. Tim is a Chartered Market Technician (CMT) with the Market Technicians Association and is a 14-year veteran of the investment industry. Tim spent the first 10 years of his career as a financial advisor for PaineWebber and MetLife. The last several years
has brought Tim over to the institutional side of the business, first as Registered Investment Advisor and Commodities Trading Advisor and currently with Sea Change.
Tim’s research and analysis on the markets has been featured on the very popular financial website Minyanville.com since 2010. He is also a regular on-air guest and contributor to a variety of programs across media platforms. Tim’s weekly technical reports on the commodities markets are utilized by commodities broker/dealers and their clients around the world.
Tim also publishes the Sea Change Global Market Report Series and the Sea Change Forex Report series every business day. These reports focus on providing a top-down analysis of the global financial markets. There is a specific emphasis on using technical analysis to provide clear interpretations of the intermarket relationships between the fixed income, equity, commodity and currency markets. From this analysis, Tim generates individual stock, ETF, commodities and forex trading ideas for subscribers.
Tim earned his BA in Management from Eckerd College in 1992 as well as a Masters Degree in Securities Analysis & Portfolio Management from Creighton University. Tim is also pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (Level 1 candidate) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation. Tim spends his free time raising his three teen / pre-teen daughters and training in mixed martial arts.
